Who is responsible for organizing Teacher Recruitment Day?

Who is eligible to participate in the interviews at TRD?
You are eligible to participate in TRD if you are a student or alumni from a participating college or university and if you have fulfilled all the necessary registration requirements. You must be available for full-time employment in the fall.
When should I register?
Candidate registration opens in January 2025. More details will be coming as we get closer to the event. About the Schools
How many schools are invited to TRD?
Approximately 3,000 schools and organizations are invited to TRD. This includes public and private schools in Western New York, throughout New York State, and across the nation.
Does each participating organization know exactly what positions it will try to fill?
Some schools know exactly what their hiring needs will be. Others anticipate openings but may not know the specific number of vacancies or exact grade levels needed to hire at the time TRD occurs. Recruiters in these circumstances are working to identify strong candidates so they can proceed to make hiring decisions when openings are identified and approved in subsequent weeks.
Is TRD the only occasion when these schools will recruit and interview for teacher vacancies?
TRD is not the only way that organizations hire. All schools accept resumes and applications on an ongoing basis. If you are interested in out of state schools, this is a great opportunity interview with recruiters visiting the WNY area.
Does every school that has openings attend TRD?
Although TRD is an excellent opportunity to interview with organizations, not all schools with openings attend TRD. Do not limit your job search to TRD alone. Visit your Career Services Office for more information on how to conduct an education job search.
What should I do to prepare for TRD?
Since the focus at TRD is on interviewing, work on refining your interviewing skills. Visit the career center on your campus for more information.
Should I research each school with which I hope to interview? Where can I find information about each?
The success of your interview depends on how well you understand the school. You need this information to market yourself well. School websites are also excellent sources of information.
About Interviews and Job Offers
Once your attendance at TRD Is confirmed, are you guaranteed interviews?
We cannot guarantee that you will be interviewed by the school of your “first” choice. In the past, however, the candidates who have had the most flexible strategies have gotten the most interviews. As a result, it is wise to have alternative choices in the event that your first choice(s) have filled schedules.
How will I be notified if an employer wants to interview me?
All invitations to interview will come via email. Please check your email regularly. Login to your CareerEco account to schedule your interview time. If you are not interested in the school, please login and decline the interview to open the option for other candidates.
I have not received an invitation to interview with any school, what do I do now?
You can still attend TRD and participate in the open networking session. During that session, you will be able to inquire with recruiters about open interviews they have at TRD.
Should I assume that if a recruiter’s schedule at TRD is filled, there is absolutely no possibility that I will get an interview?
No, interview spots sometimes open so continue to check with the organizations you are interested in interviewing with. Districts will also have access to resumes after the event, and may contact you after the event to set up an interview.
Is an interview in any way a guarantee of a job offer?
The only thing you are guaranteed by an interview is the opportunity to convince those with whom you interview that you can make a contribution to their organization. As in any interview situation, there is no guarantee of a job offer.
What happens if I get an offer at TRD?
You should thank the recruiter and request approximately one week to carefully consider the offer. Please be certain to verify with the schools the exact deadline for responding to their offer. If you need help in making your decision, you may want to consult a counselor in your campus career office.
Do social networking sites really have an impact on job offers?
Yes, it is certainly possible that what is available about you on public social media sites will impact your chances of getting the position you want. If you’ve got a profile on a social networking site such as Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, or Facebook, be prepared for potential employers to view it. LinkedIn is a great professional networking site. Google yourself to see what information is viewable to the public. You may want to adjust your privacy settings.
